About DaisyChain Energy

DaisyChain Energy was created with one goal — to make it a financial no-brainer for the built environment to decarbonize. To that end, we have developed an electricity management platform that helps commercial property owners reduce operating costs, improve reliability and power quality, unlock new revenue streams, and flip the economics on electrification and decarbonization — all while meeting the needs of an increasingly strained grid. We serve multifamily buildings, hospitals, data centers, and hyperscalers through a unified software and controls stack. We’re a fast-growing startup solving real-world problems at the intersection of hardware, software, and the clean energy transition.

Overview

DaisyChain Energy is seeking a highly capable, self-sufficient engineer to own the deployment and integration of field-based electrical monitoring and control systems across commercial and institutional sites. This is a hands-on execution role — you’ll be the person who coordinates with customers and their contractors, shows up, gets systems live, and makes sure they work—all in a process-driven manner to help scale the business and its impact.

This role combines:

  • Power systems engineering (revenue grade metering, power quality)

  • Field deployment and commissioning

  • Device integration and communications

  • Customer-facing technical leadership

  • Feedback into product/platform development (ELO platform)

You will be responsible for translating real-world electrical infrastructure into robust, scalable, and well-documented systems that integrate seamlessly with our cloud platform.

Key Responsibilities

1. Power Quality Monitoring

  • Waveform captures

  • Disturbance records

  • Develop internal standards for:

  • Event classification

  • Data retention and retrieval strategies

  • Work with product/software teams to ensure events are correctly surfaced and interpreted in the platform

2. Field Deployment & Commissioning

  • Metering installation coordination

  • Validate installations:

  • Signal integrity

  • Phasing and polarity

  • Data accuracy

  • Commission systems end-to-end: Device → gateway → cloud platform

3. Communications & Device Integration

  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial communications:

  • IP networking (VPNs, APNs, routing)

  • Cellular gateways and remote access

  • Implement and integrate protocols including:

  • Modbus (RTU/TCP)

  • DNP3

  • BACnet

  • MQTT / REST interfaces (for platform integration)

  • Ensure reliable telemetry pipelines

4. Customer-Facing Technical Leadership

  • Act as the technical lead on site deployments

  • Clearly communicate:

  • Installation requirements

  • Risks and constraints (e.g., working around utility equipment)

  • Data and control capabilities

  • Support customers in:

  • Understanding power quality issues

  • Interpreting events and system behavior

  • Design and implementation of metering devices and associated communications devices

5. Process Development and Scalability

  • Define, document, and improve processes to execute while scaling

  • Understand and evolve interactions with customers and third parties to accelerate deployment and reach

Required Experience

Core Engineering Background

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 5–10+ years in:

  • Power systems, controls, or field engineering

  • OR strong hands-on equivalent experience

Power Systems & Field Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:

  • 3-phase power systems

  • CT/PT installations and metering practices

  • Electrical panels and switchgear

  • Experience with industrial communications protocols (Modbus, DNP3, BACnet)

  • Familiarity with IP networking in field environments

Nice to Have

  • Some exposure to scripting (Python preferred) is a strong plus

  • Exposure to DERMS / ADMS concepts

Key Traits (Critical for Success)

This role will fail without these:

  • High ownership / self-sufficiency — Can take a deployment from concept → installed → working → documented

  • Systems thinking — Understands how electrical, communications, and software layers interact

  • Field pragmatism — Can solve real-world problems under constraints (space, safety, access)

  • Organization & discipline — Maintains clean documentation and repeatable processes

  • Customer confidence — Can lead discussions with facility engineers and electricians credibly

Compensation:

$140,000 - $175,000 base salary, commensurate with experience. Equity included.
